While COVID-19 disaster remains the focus area across the world for last 4-5 months, on May 20, 2020, we have witnessed probably the worst affected Cyclone in our lifetime which devastated most parts of South Bengal districts. The Servere cyclone Amphan literally shattered vast areas of West Bengal namely Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur, Pashcim Medinipur, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia and Murshidabad. The magnitude of the loss of property and the financial implications are Immense. In order to strengthen the efforts of Government, St. Xavier's College and the Community as a whole came forward with a financial aid of Rs.10 Lacs (rupees ten Lacs Only) as contribution to West BengalState Emergency relief fund of Government of West Bengal on account of post-Amphan Rehabilitation support. St. Xavier's College Teaching and Support staffs have come forward to donate their One-Day Salary of the Month of May 2020 to towards the said Amphan relief fund - along with contributions from members of St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association.
